Jesus, I know

Jesus (loves me, this) I know, for the Bible (tells me) so.

Sydney likes singing. I usually sing Jesus loves me to her at night when she goes to sleep. She always askes for "Jesus" song. Up until just recently, she would "sing" Jesus loves me, but she only remembered "YESSSS, Jesus" (loves me), which she would sing over and over. Suddenly in the car the other day, she hears a song on the radio that had Jesus in the chorus and she starts singing away. I was so glad I had the camera.

oh snap

do you know how many snaps are on a 3-6 month sleeper?



pretty close to a ba-gillion (ba-gillion - n. a cardinal number greater than a ka-gillion, but less than ka-zillion). I think this sleeper has 13 snaps, which is just ridiculous when you are trying to snap up the sleeper at 3 am after changing a diaper, but before the baby has been fed and is therefore starving and therefore hungry and therefore crying...loudly. Thankfully, Sydney (and Wayne) sleeps right through it all.

Sydney is just fasinated with Elijah. She especially loves to point out his eyes, nose, and chin. In the pictures below you can see her identifying first her chin (you can even read her lips and see the "ch" in chin) and then baby bro's chin.

It's been in the mid 80's here in southeastern Wisconsin, warm for this time of year. So, we took advantage of the nice weather while we have it (this is wisconsin after all, so it will probably snow next week [for my international friends, I'm being sarcastic...but you never know]).


Sydney rode in the stroller while Elijah went sling style.
I love the sling. I am hoping Elijah will too. His first attempt in it did not go well, but I think he was hungry that time. He did excellent this ride. He slept the whole time!

The sling is great, I like it better than the baby carriers where the poor kid is haning there by their...well...diaper area. I guess those are fine, too, but this is easy to get on (compared to the army of people you need to figure out all those straps and then get the baby in) and I think it reminds baby of being cuddled up in the womb.

this is the SlingEZee for those interested. The rep I bought it from actually used it with her kids until they were 4 and 5 years! When the baby is old enough that you carry them on your hip, you adjust the sling and it can hold them that way too.

i was scared...but he did sleep

I posted the other day that Elijah had been up pretty much all day and was still awake late at night. That was actually the second day of very awakeness (for Elijah) and tiredness (for mommy). Thankfully, he slept. It took til after midnight, but he did sleep, through the night and the next 24 hours nearly solid! I woke him every 3-4 hours to feed him, but once he was done eating, he was out. whew!
I was worried we were going to have a colicy baby. I even spent an hour of his awake and crying time looking up colic info online. Nearly every website tried to encourage the mommies..."dont worry, colic doesnt last forever. it should go away by the 4th or 6th month at the longest." Am I missing something here? I fail to see the positive side of this, unless your baby is already 3 and 30/31 months old. 4 months is a long time to go without sleep! That seems like it would hardly encourage any one at 3am after 8 hours of crying, dont worry, only 3 more months to go! :)

bump

a view of the bump was requested...and i realized that i didn't have a bump shot on the blog.
here it is, 'the bump' on the day before Elijah came. i always felt like i was huge, but i figured i probably didn't look as big as i felt, (one of those 'not as bad as it seems' kind of things). yet everywhere i went people were constantly telling me how uncomfortable i looked.


looking at this picture, i have to agree. i look 'painfully large.'

i'm scared

so, after two days of being up past midnight and awake before 7am, today elijah has almost literally slept all day long, waking only long enough to eat and fall back asleep. what a little bump on a log.

I'm scared he won't sleep a blink tonight.

while there is a lot of crying going on (and i can admit, i am one of the offenders), we are making it. however, i thought i would give a salute to tears and sleep, or rather the lack there of.

I've been meaning to get a picture of Sydney and Elijah together, but they (and mommy) never seem to be awake and happy at the same time. This picture is from Elijah's birthday. Sydney's look says it all. "I love you, Elijah."



Sydney is too funny. She is always ready to talk to "JIY-jah" and point out his eyes, ears, nose and mouth. She loves to oh and awe over him. "Mwwaahhh, cupe (cute)."

family

I love our family. When we had Sydney two years ago, Wayne and I got a new sense of what it was to be 'family'. I am so excited to experience that feeling again as we add Elijah to the mix. We feel complete. And some day when we have more children, we will feel complete again.

jeans

one of my past pregnancy week-by-week update emails joked about pregnancy being the best reason/excuse to gain 25 pounds. on that thought i would like to point out that delivering the baby is one of the best self-image boosters. no, not the immediate moments or even few days after when your tummy just sags there like...well...a bowl full of jelly.

but, give it a week, and you can likely be able to fit into (if not pre-pregnancy pants) early pregnancy pants.

yes, ladies and gentlemen (do any guys read this? i doubt it) i not only got into, but was able to zip up my prepregnancy jeans! ta-dah! of course, i lost all feeling in my legs when i sat down and the waistline cut off all circulation to my legs, but that is not the point. the jeans were on! :)

it is a great feeling to be very suddenly able to fit into clothes that you have not been able to wear in forever. and on that note, i have got to lose weight. i topped out at a number i hope to never see again on the scale. yes, i know i was pregnant and that you gain weight, but i could not believe how i was and am. i hope to lose 20 pounds by christmas...i hope that by posting on here my efforts every now and then that i can actually accomplish and stick to my weight loss efforts. we'll see what happens.
