Sydney's Safari Celebration

all the party-goers.

Sydney waits for her party by playing peek-a-boo with grandpa. Her first birthday was a Safari theme, hence the explorer hat.

Family picture with sydney's cake. We were going to just make cupcakes and stick little plastic zoo animals on them, but grandma couldn't let sydney's first birthday go by without a special cake. so we got a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. (hey, if you are going to have cake, make it a good one!)

I'm waiting for my food.

hmmm, this is pretty good.

Thank you Jesus for chocolate cake.

mmmwah, i love cake.

We love you messy baby.

blessed be the name of the Lord

Because we know that you care about us, we wanted you to know that on Aug. 6th, Corey Gabriella passed quickly through our lives. While this may be uncomfortable or upsetting for some, we wanted to take the oppurtunity to give praise and thanks to God for his unfailing love.

July 23rd ultrasound, 9 weeks - lovingly refered to as the blob with a heartbeat

We were thrilled to be pregnant again and were eagerly awaiting Sydney's party this saturday to reveil to family the secret we'd been keeping (we bought a cute dress for sydney that says "I'm the big sister"). On Monday (Aug. 4) we had gone in to the doctor's to follow up on a yeast infection and some minor spotting i'd been having. The ultrasound showed a strong heartbeat and that the baby was measuring up perfectly.
Then, yesterday morning, I woke up at 4:30am to lots of bleeding. I woke Wayne and we headed to the ER. two long hours later, we were finally able to get an ultrasound. we both saw it right away. no heartbeat. within a half hour, the baby passed from my body.
We both cried our eyes out. i had known what was happening, but we were hoping against hope that the baby would pull through, that there would be a heartbeat and that we would be somehow able to fix the problem.
Yet, through the rivers of tears, we both had a sense of overwhelming peace. that is partially why I feel I must tell this. We have to give testimony to our Awesome Lord and Savior.
While we are sad and sometimes cry at what could have been, the enduring love of the Lord has been fresh in our heart and soul. What an awesome God we have! His comfort and peace have upheld us. We can truly say, blessed be the name of the Lord!

Aug. 4 ultrasound, 10 1/2 weeks (head on left side with arm raised up)

We decided to name the baby. We want the baby and this experience to remind us of God and his love for us.
Corey means God's Peace
Gabriella means God is my might
we chose a unisex name for the first name, since we will mostly refer to the baby as Corey, but wayne kept refering to the baby as her, so we opted for a feminine middle name. (it was too early to know the gender, but in heaven, it doesn't matter anyway.)

This song has always had a lot of meaning to us, now it is kind of a theme song.
Blessed be your name
Blessed be your name
In the land that is plentiful
Where the streams of abundance flow
Blessed be your name

Blessed be your name
When I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed be your name

Every blessing you pour out,
I turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say...
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be your glorious name

Blessed be your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's all as it should be
Blessed be your name

Blessed be your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
Blessed be your name

Every blessing you pour out,
I turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say...
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be your glorious name

You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, Blessed be your name

Kissin' my Cheetah

Smooch

It's the 4th of July and Sydney is playing with her Build-a-Bear Cheetah (christmas present). she is sooo funny.
We went to see the fireworks, and sydney did great. i was worried that she would get scared, but she actualy slept through the grand finale! :) oh well.

June 24 Happy Birthday Daddy

Go figure, it's Wayne's 30th birthday, and who do we have pictures of??? Sydney, playing in the 144 ballons that my mom blew up for Wayne's special day. i know, my mom is the cronic over-achiever. :) no, really, it was a great surprize and we enjoyed watching sydney play and discover for a few days.

Lord and Lil' Flame

Wayne really enjoys cooking and grilling out. For Father's Day, Sydney gave daddy a cool new apron, which reads "Lord of the Flame."

Sydney has a matching apron, which eventually will have "Lil' Flame" on it.

silly baby girl

sydney is a pretty funny baby. lately she has learned how to fake pout. her lower lip wil extend out to great distances, her head will tilt back in preparation for a fake cry and her eyelids will lower to cover her eyes. she will then squint and take a peak to see if anyone is watching her. sassy baby!!! so, as i was taking pictures of her today in preparation for a father's day gift . . . i caught it!

fake pout, fake pout

i love this picture, i can just imagine her saying
I am smiling!!!!

and this picture is just funny.

Party for Great Grandma Z

Here we come through the back door . . . late.

who is holding me and why??? - says Sydney. :)

Sydney and naomi's cousin Justin.

playin' in the pool

We decided to have a rummage sale, our first ever, and it was during the hottest and worse weather yet this year. I (naomi) was ready to keel-over-dead from heat exhaustion. We brought out Sydney's new blow-up pool (thank you grandpa f. for providing the blowing-up-machiny-thing) and she had a good time splashing around. Her diaper weighed something like 12 pounds when she was done, but it was fun.

Isn't she cute!!!
