the doll is mary.
it is auntie sarah's doll from probably kindergarten or so. the doll has seen better days, even when sarah first got it, it had seen better days. it was saved from the free box at bethel seminary when we were in elementary school. sarah loved that doll, jonathan however had a different view. fletcher kids will knowingly recall how jonathan wrestled and body slammed that poor mary doll around until sarah would rescue it while naomi would unconvincinly say, jonathan stop it.
well, mary has found a new person to love her. mary had been hiding in a box of sarah's left behind stuff. we thought sydney might like to see her, so out she came, and sydney's sensitive side showed up.

Videos of sydney's party
I was having so many problems getting her pictures to work on the last post that i decided to post her party videos separately. Here they are:

Sydney's Safari Celebration
all the party-goers.
Sydney waits for her party by playing peek-a-boo with grandpa. Her first birthday was a Safari theme, hence the explorer hat.
Family picture with sydney's cake. We were going to just make cupcakes and stick little plastic zoo animals on them, but grandma couldn't let sydney's first birthday go by without a special cake. so we got a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. (hey, if you are going to have cake, make it a good one!)
I'm waiting for my food.
hmmm, this is pretty good.
Thank you Jesus for chocolate cake.
mmmwah, i love cake.
We love you messy baby.

blessed be the name of the Lord
Because we know that you care about us, we wanted you to know that on Aug. 6th, Corey Gabriella passed quickly through our lives. While this may be uncomfortable or upsetting for some, we wanted to take the oppurtunity to give praise and thanks to God for his unfailing love.
July 23rd ultrasound, 9 weeks - lovingly refered to as the blob with a heartbeat
We were thrilled to be pregnant again and were eagerly awaiting Sydney's party this saturday to reveil to family the secret we'd been keeping (we bought a cute dress for sydney that says "I'm the big sister"). On Monday (Aug. 4) we had gone in to the doctor's to follow up on a yeast infection and some minor spotting i'd been having. The ultrasound showed a strong heartbeat and that the baby was measuring up perfectly.
Then, yesterday morning, I woke up at 4:30am to lots of bleeding. I woke Wayne and we headed to the ER. two long hours later, we were finally able to get an ultrasound. we both saw it right away. no heartbeat. within a half hour, the baby passed from my body.
We both cried our eyes out. i had known what was happening, but we were hoping against hope that the baby would pull through, that there would be a heartbeat and that we would be somehow able to fix the problem.
Yet, through the rivers of tears, we both had a sense of overwhelming peace. that is partially why I feel I must tell this. We have to give testimony to our Awesome Lord and Savior.
While we are sad and sometimes cry at what could have been, the enduring love of the Lord has been fresh in our heart and soul. What an awesome God we have! His comfort and peace have upheld us. We can truly say, blessed be the name of the Lord!
Aug. 4 ultrasound, 10 1/2 weeks (head on left side with arm raised up)
We decided to name the baby. We want the baby and this experience to remind us of God and his love for us.
Corey means God's Peace
Gabriella means God is my might
we chose a unisex name for the first name, since we will mostly refer to the baby as Corey, but wayne kept refering to the baby as her, so we opted for a feminine middle name. (it was too early to know the gender, but in heaven, it doesn't matter anyway.)
This song has always had a lot of meaning to us, now it is kind of a theme song.
Blessed be your name
Blessed be your name
In the land that is plentiful
Where the streams of abundance flow
Blessed be your name
Blessed be your name
When I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed be your name
Every blessing you pour out,
I turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say...
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be your glorious name
Blessed be your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's all as it should be
Blessed be your name
Blessed be your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
Blessed be your name
Every blessing you pour out,
I turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say...
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be your glorious name
You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, Blessed be your name

June 24 Happy Birthday Daddy
Go figure, it's Wayne's 30th birthday, and who do we have pictures of??? Sydney, playing in the 144 ballons that my mom blew up for Wayne's special day. i know, my mom is the cronic over-achiever. :) no, really, it was a great surprize and we enjoyed watching sydney play and discover for a few days.
