tooooo-morrow, tomorrow, i love ya, tomorow

you're only a day away!!!

Baby Anderson...we can't wait to meet you! See you tomorrow!

I will try to post as soon as possible to let ya'll know what we have.

Turtle Blankie

I like picking an 'unusual' theme for our children. Instead of the usual Dora, Noah's Ark, or Pink Ponies, I like to pick an animal and a color (it doesnt have to be a color that makes sense for that animal). Sydney was Elephants and Orange. (I'll have you know, there were no elephant anythings for kids when I was pregnant with Sydney, and now, while not as popular as ponies, elephants are hitting the scene. What can I say, I'm a trend setter.). The previous pregnancy was Monkeys and Yellow.

For this baby, Turtles and Lime Green. Turtles are hard to find right now. There are frogs everywhere, but turtles not so much. So, I decided I was going to make a turtle blanket, and crochet it with yarn (crochet is the one with just one stick; knitting uses two sticks).

When I started, I had plenty of time; if I did just one turtle a day (about an hour), I could have been done. But, life goes on with or without you or your turtles. I think I have at least 7 hours of lily pads to make and most of my turtles are headless. Still, I'm amazed that I have been able to get as much done as I have. I learned to crotchet while in Kenya and barely know how to read the instruction books, so I think I'm doing pretty good.

tur-dah - as sydney would say

I did it! Ta-Dah!!! I bought a bassinet like this:

After a few hours of this:

I got this:
Now, we just need a baby to fill it.
I bought the bassinet earlier this summer from a garage sale. It is NOT my style; even though it is just white, it is too flouncy for me. So, I bought this lime green fabric, almost two months ago, and told myself, you better do this now or it will never get done. I'm so proud of myself...I had no pattern and I know just enough about sewing to think I know what I am doing. It turned out pretty good, in my opinion.

dangerous two

just a couple of cute pictures of sydney and her "2" candle.
I don't know about this...

Well...here goes...wooooooo

it's the final countdown

Well, it's official. The baby will come!
I've been 'done' with this pregnancy for a long time, and now I have the end in sight.
Aug. 25th, at 1 o'clock
we have a scheduled C-Section. Our ultra-sound the other day reveiled an approximately 10 pound 3 ounce baby. (oh baby)
So, happy, healthy, (hefty) baby, here we come!

Ultrasound

Ok, so we had our ultrasound today, and I forgot to call the nurse later on to find out the size of the baby (the ultrasound tech can't actually tell you that information). So, I'll have to wait til Monday's appointment to find out. However, at the end when the tech was scanning through the photos to check that she had everything, I was a chart pop up. It looked like a growth chart, with the curved lines marking out your average growth, and slightly above and below average.

Now, I am not sure what the chart was for...it could be pizza consumption for all I know, however, it looked something like this:

(this is NOT my chart, I found it online and it suited my purposes. You will notice the green "X," placed by me to show approximately where I saw the x on the chart at the appointment. While the other x-es are original to this chart, it actually corresponds well to what I saw on my chart.)
Again, since this is NOT my chart and I could not see what was being measured (could have been a chart about stretch marks for all I know), we are not sure what, if anything, this could mean. However, if it was a fetal growth chart...boy are we in for some fun. Big, big baby.
Will let you know on Monday how we are doing!

doctor's appointment tomorrow, ultrasound friday

I am really excited about the ultrasound on Friday. We are having yet another ultrasound to monitor the size of the baby. Since Sydney was a little large (8lbs 13 oz) and Wayne was huge (almost 11 lbs.), we really want to make sure the baby does not aproach Guinness(book of world records) status.

A previous ultrasound at 34 weeks showed the baby at 7 lbs 15 oz already!!!

For those who do not know:

  • average baby at birth 6 1/2 to 7 1/2 lbs

  • full-term pregnancy is considered 40 weeks

  • a baby gains half a pound a week starting at the 34th week

Therefore, if the ultrasound was correct, at 40 weeks we may be looking at a 11 pound baby. (all the moms out there are going ouch!)

My doctor doesn't want me to push anything bigger than 9 pounds (due to family history etc.). So, if the baby followed the usual growth curve, we will most likely schedule a c-section sometime around Aug. 26ish.

-I remember posting during my pregnancy with Sydney about how I hummed the Baby Beluga song everytime I thought of the potential size of her. Well, now that song haunts me!!! :)

(oh, come on...you know...the baby beluga song......by raffi......it's a kids classic! just cuz i listened to raffi as a kid doesn't mean...well i guess you missed out!)

:)

bedtime

a random and quick blog...i could blog everynight, if only to save my sanity and give me something to do. sydney has decided it is fun to get up a ba-gillion times a night.
*ba-gillion = buh-JIL-yon: n. an undetermined number somewhere between a billion and googolplex*
some nights i barely have enough time to sit down after walking out of our bedroom, and there she is up and out of bed already.
tonight, she has been getting up every minute or so for an hour.
are we having fun yet?

who are you going to be?

We've opted once again to be surprised about the gender of the baby (much to my garage saling dismay [think of all the cute outfits at great prices that I have been missing!!]). While I enjoy the idea of being surprised, the waiting is torture!!!

Anyway...after a lot of searching, we have settled on baby names.

We kept our baby boy name from Sydney...

Elijah Townsend

Elijah means My God is the LORD - for those who are geeked out about such things, LORD is actually Yahweh, I AM WHO I AM. I like the idea of Yahweh, the self-exsistant, being our God. God is everything we need in life. "In Him we live and move and have our being." Acts 17:28a

Townsend is from William Cameron Townsend, a great christian man who started the Wycliffe Bible Translators, an organization commited to translating the Bible into the language of people who do not have the Bible. I like the "heritage" of this name.

And our girl name is...

Kezia Lily

Kezia is one of three daughters born to the Old Testament man Job after God restores him and blesses the latter part of his life. (Job has been rather meaningful to me (Naomi) since our miscarriage last year.) Kezia, and her sisters, are mentioned as being beautiful in the land and that they recieved an inheritance along with their brothers (Job 42:12-16).

Throughout the last year, I was constantly reminded of God's sovereignty and love with verses like "The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; Blessed be the name of the LORD." (Job 1:21b), "By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me..."(Psalms 42:8a). "Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God." (Psalms 42:11). I like Psalms 42:11, sometimes we need to just listen to and know the truth. We need to tell our emotions knock it off, my hope is in God, and because He is good, I will praise Him the Savior of my soul and the God of my life.

Lily is sort of a tribute to my dad and his mom. Early in the naming process of Sydney, Lily or Lillian came up as a possible middle name paired with another name that I have since forgotten. When I mentioned Lily as a possibility, my dad got this soft, emotinoal look on his face as he said, "Lily was my mom's name." (She died unexpectedly in November of 1992 from a massive heart-attack.) It was really touching.

I like Lily also because of Jesus' reference to them in the Gospel of Luke (12:27-28a) "Look at the lilies and how they grow. They don't work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and gone tomorrow, won't he more surely care for you?" The lily is a beatiful creation of God, as is our child.

Bay Beach Birthday Party

Sydney's birthday isn't until Aug. 10th, but we had a party in Green Bay Aug. 1 to get as much family together as possible. It was a lot of fun. Here are a few pictures. ( I took over 200, so did my mom and my cousin Justin...so yeah..I have a lot of sorting to do.)

Washington County Fair

What Sydney 'Learned' at the Fair:

1- All animals eat grass.
Horseys like it.

Sheep, and goats, and donkeys like it.
And this little piggy will like it.

Come on piggy, eat it!

2- I like tractors...
...on my terms.
The tractor above holds still and I can turn the wheel and pull levers.
I can't touch or ride tractors in the background below, and they are really loud.

(these tractors were a part of a tractor pull...it was really loud and sydney just wanted daddy to hold her and protect her from the big, bad machines.)

3- There is always something interesting to look at.
Like cows.

Or a really tall ride.
We had a great time at the Fair.
Our 'county' fair is a great 'county' fair...
don't miss it, don't even be late.
-State Fair, 1962 musical
